Seated Buddha in polychrome bronze, Qing Dynasty - Lot 24
Seated Buddha in polychrome bronze, Qing Dynasty A bronze figure of a seated Buddha, depicted in meditation on a double architectural pedestal, with his hands joined in front of his body. The serene face, with downcast eyes, is surmounted by curly hair and set against a flamboyant, openwork mandorla, accented with red and gilding. The chest bears the Buddhist symbol of good omen, while the surface retains significant traces of polychrome paint, gilding, and an antique patina with greenish hues. A Sino-Tibetan work from the Qing dynasty, likely dating from the 18th–19th centuries, showing wear and signs of aging consistent with its age. Details: height 13.5 cm – base 6.5 × 8 cm.
