Chokwe Carved Wooden Mask, Early 20th Century African Chokwe mask carved from wood, depicting an elongated face with narrow eyes, a straight nose and a slightly open mouth. The forehead and cheeks are decorated with incised geometric motifs, while the coiffure is rendered in deeply carved bands. Side and upper perforations were likely intended for attachment or suspension. Work from the Chokwe cultural region spanning Angola and the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
