Carved corozo bowl, 19th century A lidded bowl made of finely carved and openwork corozo, resting on a circular pedestal. The ovoid body is entirely decorated with a rich interlacing pattern of foliage and flowers in relief. The lid, which screws on and off, is topped by a standing figure holding a bouquet of fruit or plants. The interior is also openwork, reflecting particularly meticulous carving. This type of object was made as a curiosity or decorative cabinet piece during the 19th century. Details: Height: 13 cm – Weight: 48 g.
