Silver wax seal – coat of arms – 18th century - Lot 14
Silver wax seal – coat of arms – 18th century Silver wax seal featuring a die engraved with a coat of arms surmounted by a crown and supported by two wild men, a heraldic motif emblematic of many noble and bourgeois families in Northern Europe. The openwork, elegantly contoured handle rests on a circular, fluted base and ensures a secure grip. The die is engraved in intaglio to imprint the design into the sealing wax. The piece is characteristic of the personal seals used in the 18th century to seal correspondence and official documents. Shows signs of normal wear and slight deformation of the handle, consistent with its age. Details: Height: 3 cm – Diameter: 2 cm – Weight: 10 g.
