Baroque winged angel head, carved and gilded wood, 17th century A decorative carved wooden element depicting the head of a winged angel, with the wings spread wide on either side of the face. The rendering of the curls, the youthful face, and the plumage is characteristic of 17th-century Baroque decoration. The original gilding is preserved with a patina from use. The back is flat, confirming that it was intended to be mounted on an altarpiece, an altar, or church decor. It shows shrinkage cracks, previous restorations, wear, small losses, and traces of polychromy on the reverse.
