JAPAN – Pair of small Satsuma vases with polychrome and gild - Lot 95
JAPAN – Pair of small Satsuma vases with polychrome and gilded “thousand-flower” decoration – 20th century Description: A charming pair of small Japanese Satsuma ceramic vases, each with a slightly different shape, featuring a rich polychrome and gilded “thousand-flower” design. The bodies are entirely adorned with numerous stylized flowers, notably chrysanthemums, in shades of red, blue, green, pink, white, and purple, set against a gold background. The particularly abundant decoration is enhanced by fine gold lines highlighting the petals and floral motifs. The necks are circled in gold, and the bases feature a red frieze with gold ornamentation. One of the vases bears a Japanese mark in gold characters on a red background beneath the base. Condition: Appears to be in good overall condition, with slight signs of wear. Dimensions: H. 12.5 × W. 7 cm (dimensions provided).
