French School – Portrait of a Young Woman, in the style of F - Lot 50
French School – Portrait of a Young Woman, in the style of François Boucher (1703–1770) – Drawing dated 1927 A delicate pencil drawing on paper depicting a bust portrait of an elegant young woman, her head turned slightly to the left and her gaze directed upward. The face, with its fine and expressive features, the updo with delicately rendered curls, and the lightness of the line evoke 18th-century French portraiture, particularly the artistic world of François Boucher. The work bears a handwritten inscription at the bottom, seemingly referring to François Boucher, accompanied by a barely legible signature and the date 1927. Presented in an elegant gilded openwork frame decorated with scrollwork, volutes, and foliage in the Rocaille style. Condition: Slight foxing, yellowing of the paper, and signs of age. Wear and small areas where the frame’s gilding is missing. Dimensions: With frame: H. 14 × W. 12 cm.
