Attributed to Albéric-Victor DUYVER (1859–1939) – Portrait o - Lot 36
Attributed to Albéric-Victor DUYVER (1859–1939) – Portrait of a Child in a Large Hat – Circa 1920 A charming pencil drawing on paper depicting a bust portrait of a young child with curly hair, wearing a wide-brimmed hat. The delicately rendered face, the gentle and expressive gaze, and the finesse of the line all attest to a fine sensibility in the art of portraiture. The work is attributed to Albéric-Victor Duyver, a Belgian painter of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Signed lower left with a barely legible signature, the attribution of which remains to be confirmed. Presented in a square, stained, molded wooden frame with a circular opening outlined by a gold fillet. On the reverse, an old label bearing the handwritten inscription “Céline 1920,” accompanied by a “Made in Belgium” label. Condition: Slight signs of age on the paper. Minor wear and signs of use on the frame. Appears to be in good overall condition. Dimensions: With frame: H. 13 × W. 13.5 cm.
