Dial-type letter scale, late 19th century A tabletop letter scale made of patinated metal resting on a circular, stained wooden base decorated with an inlaid pentagram. The lever mechanism moves a pointer across a dial graduated from 0 to 100 grams and supports a slightly concave circular tray. The instrument bears a monogram that is difficult to identify, as well as the inscription “Déposé.” An elegant late 19th-century desk model, retaining a beautiful antique patina and normal signs of use.
