Large Russian Icon of the Resurrection, 19th Century - Lot 114
Large Russian Icon of the Resurrection, 19th Century An exceptional and imposing 19th-century Russian icon depicting, at the center, the Resurrection of Christ and the Descent into Hell, surrounded by sixteen scenes from the major feasts of the Orthodox Church. The highly detailed miniature painting, as well as the complex arrangement of the scenes, are reminiscent of the Palekh tradition.
