Mythological scene featuring a nude female figure surrounded - Lot 99

Mythological scene featuring a nude female figure surrounded by wild animals—signed W.K.W., dated 1920 Oil on canvas depicting a mythological or allegorical scene set in a lush landscape populated by big cats and exotic animals. At the center of the composition, a nude female figure moves through a teeming natural setting, in an atmosphere steeped in mystery and poetry. The work is part of the early 20th-century Symbolist tradition, in which the wild world and the idealized female figure blend in a dreamlike vision inspired by antiquity and the great mythological narratives. The palette of deep tones, the delicate treatment of light, and the abundance of botanical details lend the composition a unique and decorative quality. Signed W.K.W. and dated 1920, it is presented in a black molded frame with a gold border. An old label from a London art supplier is preserved on the reverse.
