Chinese coral sculpture – three musicians – 20th century A Chinese sculpture finely carved from a large branch of natural pink coral, depicting three elegant musicians dressed in long, flowing gowns. One plays the pipa while the other two move among the coral’s natural branches, which are treated as an openwork vegetal landscape. The piece as a whole demonstrates exceptionally meticulous craftsmanship, making the most of the material’s organic form and the coral’s natural hues. The sculpture rests on a carved and openwork wooden base decorated with inlaid geometric motifs. Two previous restorations are worth noting. Details: Height: 30 cm – Width: 28 cm – Weight: 0.250 kg.
