Kutani Oil Lamps, Japan, 19th century - Lot 15
Kutani Oil Lamps, Japan, 19th century A pair of Japanese oil lamps consisting of Kutani porcelain vases richly decorated in a polychrome palette and accented with gold, mounted on bronze bases and reservoirs. The vases feature a reserve-style decoration depicting court scenes and warriors, alternating with panels adorned with birds, flowers, and landscapes, in the style characteristic of Meiji-period export wares. The chiseled bronze mounts, complete with their oil lamp mechanisms and wicks, date from the time the pieces were converted into lamps. Details: Height: 53 cm (each) – Weight: 4.2 kg (each).
