Sepik Feather Mask, Papua New Guinea A Sepik mask dating from the mid-20th century, carved from wood and edged with a border of woven plant fibers. The elongated face features a prominent nose, narrow eyes, and several circular ornaments made of small shells. The upper part is topped with a headdress made of fibers and long, dark feathers. The mask retains a weathered surface with signs of use, wear, dried-out fibers, and a few old losses.
