Bemba-Lunda Prestige Stool, Zambia A prestige stool made of hardwood, from Zambia and attributed to the Bemba-Lunda cultural sphere, dating from the mid-20th century. The slightly concave circular seat is accented by a frieze of carved diamond-shaped motifs. The four openwork legs, which are slightly flared, are decorated with fine linear incisions. The piece has a deep, dark patina with signs of wear consistent with its age. This type of seat was associated with prestige, authority, and social status.
