Indonesia - carved maternity figure - mid 20th century
Small wooden sculpture of a seated female figure holding a child on her lap. The figure features an elongated head with a conical headdress, a stylized face with almond-shaped eyes and a calm expression. The child is depicted frontally, seated against the mother's torso. The compact posture, with legs bent and arms encircling the child, underlines the theme of maternity. The surface has a dark brown patina with traces of use. The sculpture is mounted on a wooden presentation plinth with metal support.
