Kuba Neck Rest – Congo, first half of the 20th century
A carved wooden neck rest attributed to the Kuba people of the Democratic Republic of the Congo. It features an oval base supporting two massive vertical posts and a strongly curved upper surface. The central surface, which is smoother and weathered, shows signs of prolonged use. The piece has a beautiful dark brown patina, with wear, small cracks, and age-related marks consistent with its age.
