Ceremonial drum of the Mongo people, hand-carved from a single trunk of wood and fitted with a stretched animal skin on the upper part; the body features geometric decoration in relief enhanced with white and pinkish pigments, forming an ensemble with strong visual presence ; this type of drum was used for rituals, dances and community ceremonies, fulfilling both musical and symbolic functions; traces of use and patina consistent with age; minor cracks and wear due to drying of the wood; height 114 cm, diameter 33 cm, weight 11.8 kg; materials : wood, natural pigments, animal skin.
