Carved Chokwe / Lunda head - DR Congo / Angola - first half 20th century Small carved wooden head representing a face with stylized features, almond-shaped eyes with marked eyelids, straight nose and discreetly incised mouth. The face is adorned with geometric scarification including diamond-shaped motifs above the eyes, incised lines on the cheeks and a central motif on the forehead. The hairstyle is rendered by carved parallel bands forming a headdress or stylized coiffure. The head rests on a rectangular base carved from the same piece of wood. Patina of use. Details : Height : 7.5 cm - Weight : 35 g.
