Kayserzinn – pewter ewer, circa 1900 - Lot 128
Kayserzinn – pewter ewer, circa 1900
Pewter ewer produced by the German manufacturer Kayserzinn, model 4305, circa 1900. The slender body rests on a flared base and features a relief decoration of hazel leaves and hazelnuts. Two naturalistic deer antlers, applied vertically to the body, form the main sculptural element of the composition, while the handle and spout feature the fluid lines characteristic of German Jugendstil. The domed lid is original, and the base bears the stamp “KAYSERZINN 4305.” This piece illustrates Kayserzinn’s penchant for naturalistic motifs and the quality of its artistic pewter production in the early 20th century.
