Dancer Sculpture by Austin Productions, 20th century - Lot 82
Dancer Sculpture by Austin Productions, 20th century
A large figurative sculpture depicting a nude dancer in motion, with her right arm raised above her head in a pose inspired by classical ballet. Crafted from dark-patinated plaster and mounted on an oak base, it features expressive modeling with deliberately textured surfaces that accentuate the composition’s dynamism. The base bears the mark “AUSTIN PROD,” attributing it to Austin Productions Inc., an American manufacturer renowned for its modern decorative sculptures from the mid-20th century. Plaster examples are significantly less common than later productions in resin or composite materials with a bronze finish, which enhances the appeal of this piece.
Details: Origin: United States. Manufacturer: Austin Productions Inc. Period: Mid-20th century, circa 1950–1960. Materials: Patinated plaster on an oak base. Marking: “AUSTIN PROD” on the base. Dimensions: Height approx. 48 cm; base approx. 15.5 × 22 cm. Condition: Good overall condition with wear and patina consistent with its age.
