Shrapnel Trench Knife, World War I A World War I trench knife made as trench art, featuring a steel blade mounted on a handle fashioned from a piece of shrapnel. The handle is finely engraved with a floral design and a figure of a soldier in uniform, as well as the inscription “Le Souvenir de la Guerre 1914.” This type of object was crafted by soldiers or artisans using materials salvaged from the battlefield, serving as a war souvenir characteristic of the 1914–1918 conflict.
