Seated Buddha, polychrome wood, Burma, 18th century - Lot 39
Seated Buddha, polychrome wood, Burma, 18th century A carved, polychrome, and gilded wooden figure of a seated Buddha, depicted in a meditative pose on an architecturally styled pedestal. The figure wears elaborate adornments and a robe decorated with relief motifs, accented with gilding, red, green, and black. The face, with its serene features, is crowned with a tall headdress that falls down the back. The piece has a beautiful antique patina, with signs of wear, areas where the polychrome has worn away, cracks, and minor imperfections, all consistent with its age. Burmese work, likely from the 18th century. Details: height 24.5 cm.
