François Gillet – stoneware vase – circa 1950–1970 - Lot 146
François Gillet – stoneware vase – circa 1950–1970 A spherical vase in glazed stoneware by François Gillet, a Franco-Belgian ceramicist active between the 1950s and 1970s. Made of high-temperature stoneware, it features a stylized floral design created using the sgraffito technique, highlighting the contrast between the light engobe and the deep brown surface. The motifs, inspired by nature, reflect the aesthetic of postwar modern ceramics. The satin-finish glaze with brown hues reveals subtle firing effects. The base bears the incised signature “F.G.,” attributed to François Gillet. This piece comes from his independent studio and is a fine example of Franco-Belgian artisanal production from the second half of the 20th century. In good overall condition. Details: Height 10.3 cm – Diameter 11.3 cm.
