Christian Caramin – Agate Sculpture, circa 1970 - Lot 131
Christian Caramin – Agate Sculpture, circa 1970 Decorative sculpture created by Christian Caramin (born in 1928 in Ixelles), a Belgian sculptor and jewelry artist. It consists of a large, polished slice of agate, retaining its natural concentric bands in shades of gray, white, and brown, mounted in a metal frame on a rectangular base. The base is signed “Caramin” and bears a label from the Librairie-Galerie Gavilan in Stockel (Brussels), attesting to its sale at the time. A work characteristic of the artist’s output during the 1970s, in which semiprecious stones are highlighted by a simple, contemporary presentation. Details: Total height 35 cm – Agate 27 × 21 cm – Base 10.5 × 5.5 cm.
