Thomason – Barrel-Type Corkscrew – 19th Century - Lot 12
Thomason – Barrel-Type Corkscrew – 19th Century
An English Thomason-type mechanical corkscrew made of brass with a turned bone handle, dating from the 19th century. This barrel-style model operates on the principle of the Thomason patent, allowing the cork to be gradually extracted by rotating the handle. It is adorned with a raised plaque marked “PATENT” depicting the British royal coat of arms, a decoration characteristic of high-quality English craftsmanship. The brass helical shaft, steel auger, and bone handle are original. Beautiful antique patina with signs of wear consistent with its age. The mechanism is in working order.
Details: Length when closed: 17 cm – Length when open: 23 cm.
