Marioton – Victor – Bronze, late 19th century - Lot 123
Marioton – Victor – Bronze, late 19th century A bronze sculpture with a brown patina depicting a young, victorious warrior raising a trophy above his head while holding a bow in his left hand. Titled “Vainqueur,” this composition is the work of French sculptor Eugène Marioton (1854–1933), whose signature is engraved on the base. The figure, clad in an animal pelt and wearing ancient sandals, is rendered in an academic style blending classical idealism and naturalism. The finely modeled musculature, dynamic posture, and expressiveness of the figure attest to the artist’s technical mastery. The sculpture also bears the mark of the foundry Siot-Decauville, Paris, one of the most important French art foundries of the late 19th century, renowned for the quality of its bronze castings. Details: Height: 93 cm – Weight: 25 kg.
