Indo-Persian 'Dhal' Shield - Koftgari Steel – 19th Century A small dhal-style shield made of forged steel, of Indo-Persian origin, dating from the 19th century. The front is finely engraved with a design of foliage and boteh motifs, enhanced by a brass inlay applied using the koftgari technique, forming a frieze of stylized flowers. Four central studs reinforce the shield’s structure. The reverse side retains its original textile padding with the original grip system, attesting to its use and preservation. This type of shield served both as defensive equipment and as a status symbol. Details: Diameter: 23 cm – Weight: 0.500 kg.
