Divine Couple – Bronze – South India – 18th century - Lot 75
Divine Couple – Bronze – South India – 18th century A divine couple cast in bronze using the lost-wax technique, depicting a four-armed male deity embracing his consort in an alingana-murti posture. The figures stand on a lotus-shaped base, accompanied by a small figure kneeling in adoration. The iconography likely corresponds to a depiction of Lakshmi-Narayana (Vishnu and Lakshmi), although several attributes that are now missing prevent a definitive identification. The sculpture features a beautiful antique patina as well as wear and missing parts consistent with its age, particularly on the attributes and certain tips of the hands. Details: Height: 16 cm – Weight: 0.771 kg.
