Pair of candlesticks – bronze – Italy – 17th century Pair of cast bronze candlesticks, made in Italy in the 17th century. Each piece rests on a molded triangular base, surmounted by a baluster shaft featuring a series of bulges and rings, and topped by a circular candle holder fitted with a spike designed to hold the candle directly. The slender proportions and understated profile are characteristic of Italian Baroque craftsmanship, intended for both liturgical and domestic use. The candle holders feature a beautiful antique patina, with traces of oxidation and wear consistent with their age. They form a cohesive set, representative of 17th-century Italian metalwork.
