Imari Vase – Porcelain – Japan, late 19th century
Large Imari-style porcelain vase, decorated with polychrome underglaze and overglaze enamels, accented with gilding. The flared body is adorned with alternating motifs of flowers, birds, and stylized heraldic designs, set among foliage, rocks, and plants. The characteristic shades of underglaze blue, iron red, and gold are complemented by accents of green and mauve. The trumpet-shaped form, with a wide, flared neck, is typical of Japanese porcelain produced for export during the Meiji era. The piece as a whole features a rich and balanced decoration, representative of late 19th-century Imari porcelain.
