Wooden Bear Needle Holder – 19th century - Lot 21
Wooden Bear Needle Holder – 19th century A carved wooden needle holder depicting an anthropomorphic bear playing a stringed instrument; the head serves as a removable lid that opens to reveal a compartment for holding needles. This type of object, both utilitarian and decorative, is characteristic of 19th-century Black Forest (Schwarzwald) craftsmanship, renowned for its finely executed animal carvings. Resting on a circular turned wooden base, it displays a beautiful patina from use.
