Skull – polychrome wood – 18th century - Lot 18
Skull – polychrome wood – 18th century A polychrome wood-carved skull, sculpted in the round with a restrained and naturalistic style. This type of object is associated with the tradition of memento mori and vanitas, serving as a reminder of the brevity of life and an invitation to reflect on the human condition. Traces of the original polychrome paint remain in places beneath a patina of age. The object shows signs of wear, small chips, and old holes, consistent with its age. Details: Length: 6 cm – Width: 5 cm – Weight: 30 g.
