Snuffbox - carved corozo nut – 19th century A snuffbox turned and carved from a corozo nut, featuring relief decoration of musical instruments, torches, quivers, and geometric and plant motifs. The domed lid is adorned with large stylized leaves, while the body features several finely engraved decorative panels. This type of snuffbox, made of vegetable ivory, was particularly prized in the 19th century for the quality of its carving and its durability. The object has several visible cracks and old restorations, as well as signs of wear consistent with its age. The lid is intact and screws onto the body.
