Wooden box—painted with an Orientalist design—19th century A small rectangular painted wooden box, with the lid decorated with an Orientalist scene depicting a young woman in Chinese dress near a pond where swans swim, in a garden adorned with pavilions and flowering plants. This type of decoration, inspired by chinoiserie, was very popular in 19th-century European decorative arts. The interior is divided into four compartments for storing small objects. Shows signs of wear and slight surface imperfections consistent with its age and use. Details: Length: 10 cm – Width: 7 cm – Height: 4 cm – Weight: 65 g.
