Dutch silver cream spoon, by Roelofs Snoeks, Leeuwarden, 18t - Lot 155
Dutch silver cream spoon, by Roelofs Snoeks, Leeuwarden, 18th century A rare rocaille-style silver cream spoon, with a deeply embossed bowl decorated with a figurative scene depicting a figure standing next to a barrel within an asymmetrical Louis XV-style frame. The reverse features a similar design with a figure in motion. The elegantly curved handle ends in an openwork foliage motif surmounted by a stylized bird. Hallmarked by master silversmith Roelofs Snoeks, who worked in Leeuwarden in the 18th century, as well as the fineness mark. This piece exemplifies the quality of Frisian goldsmithing from the Rococo period, characterized by dynamic forms and richly detailed decoration. In fine condition with slight wear consistent with its age and use. Details: Length: 10 cm – Width: 4 cm – Weight: 15 g.
