Pair of Henri II-style bronze candlesticks, Spain, 17th century
A pair of turned bronze candlesticks featuring a flared circular base and a baluster shaft with successive moldings. The understated proportions and architectural profile are in keeping with the Henri II style, which was widely popular on the Iberian Peninsula. The two pieces show slight variations in turning, attesting to their artisanal craftsmanship. Beautiful antique patina with signs of wear and oxidation consistent with the age of the set.
