Aluminum heraldic lion masthead ornament – 19th/20th century A decorative cast aluminum piece depicting a heraldic lion standing on its hind legs. Originally designed as a finial for a flagpole or mast, it features a relief design comprising a motto in the center and stylized plant motifs at the bottom. Its aluminum composition and three-dimensional design distinguish it from door knockers, to which it may be mistaken at first glance.
