Travel inkwell in gilded bronze and semi-precious stones in the style of Alphonse Giroux, Napoleon III period
Elegant travel inkwell in gilded bronze, finely engraved with foliage and floral motifs. Octagonal in shape, it is adorned with malachite and carnelian cabochons set on the base, as well as a large malachite cabochon on the hinged lid. The interior retains its ink reservoir. The richness of the decoration, the quality of the engraving, and the use of semi-precious stones are reminiscent of 19th-century Parisian luxury goods, particularly those produced by the Alphonse Giroux firm. A beautiful desk and collector’s item representative of the Napoleon III style.
