Oil lamp in earthenware with a copper mount, 19th century - Lot 160
Oil lamp in earthenware with a copper mount, 19th century
An antique-style oil lamp made of celadon-glazed earthenware, resting on a copper shaft and circular base. The reservoir features a relief decoration of foliage and a stylized zoomorphic handle resembling a dragon’s head. The adjustable copper mount originally allowed it to be used as a hanging or table oil lamp. The piece was later electrified for modern lighting use, while retaining its original decorative character. A decorative 19th-century work inspired by Orientalist motifs and the emerging Art Nouveau style.
Details: Height: 57 cm – Weight: 2,410 g – Glazed earthenware and copper – Electrified at a later date – 19th-century piece.
