Limoges enamel plaque depicting a young nude woman – A. Burcan, early 20th century
A painted enamel plaque on slightly domed metal, signed A. Burcan Limoges in the lower left corner. The composition depicts a young nude woman reclining in a rocky landscape, rendered in the Symbolist and Art Nouveau style characteristic of early 20th-century Limoges production. The soft tones, delicate modeling, and refined execution attest to the expertise of the Limoges workshops in the art of painted enamel.
The work is presented in a black frame with a gold border, highlighting the contrast between the deep hues of the background and the luminous skin tone of the figure. The plate exhibits a slight original curvature, typical of enamels created on a metal base.
