Chinese gourd-shaped vase in oxblood-red porcelain, with an apocryphal Qianlong mark, late 19th–early 20th century
A gourd-shaped (hulu) Chinese porcelain vase coated with a deep, nuanced oxblood red glaze, displaying slight variations in tone toward the neck in shades ranging from cream to a fine natural crackle. This traditional form, a symbol of prosperity and longevity in Chinese culture, highlights the richness of the monochrome glaze achieved through reduction firing. The interior is fully glazed. The base bears a six-character Qianlong-style mark in blue under the glaze, likely apocryphal. China, late 19th–early 20th century. In perfect condition.
