Tutsi archer's bracelet in carved wood - Rwanda - early 20th century Important Tutsi archer's bracelet carved from a single block of wood with a dark brown patina. The massive, open-arched shape with bulging ends features an inner cavity polished by prolonged wear. This type of bracelet was used to protect the forearm of archers, and was also a marker of prestige and social status in the Tutsi pastoral societies of Rwanda. A fine old example with a patina of age and consistent traces of use.
