Oval Tutsi tray in woven plant fibers - Rwanda - first half 20th century Oval Tutsi tray made of finely braided plant fibers and raffia, with low, slightly flared sides. The reddish-brown geometric decoration on a natural background consists of a repetitive frieze of triangular motifs running around the inside and outside. This type of tray was used to present or serve food and bears witness to the refinement of traditional Rwandan weaving. Antique work with fine craftsmanship and a patina consistent with age.
