Tutsi basket in "double layer technique" basketry - Rwanda, early 20th century Covered Tutsi basket made of woven plant fibers, using the rare "double layer" technique, characterized by a double-walled structure featuring black geometric decoration on a natural background. Elongated cylindrical shape with high conical lid ending in a tubular socket. The decoration in wide, undulating black bands is typical of early Rwandan production. This type of basket was used to store and display precious products, particularly in Tutsi domestic and ceremonial contexts. Details : Height : 37.5 cm - Weight : 60 g
