Ngombe - Democratic Republic of Congo - stool with wooden na - Lot 195
Ngombe - Democratic Republic of Congo - stool with wooden nails - First half 20th century
Small carved wooden stool, slightly concave in shape, resting on two lateral supports. The outer surface is entirely covered with small brass nails forming a dense, regular pattern. This type of metal ornamentation is a distinctive feature of certain prestige seats used by chiefs or notables. The seat has been hollowed out by use and the structure shows an antique patina. An old restoration is visible in the center of the seat.
