Holo - Democratic Republic of the Congo - Male figure in woo - Lot 181
Holo - Democratic Republic of the Congo - Male figure in wood - First half 20th century
Wooden sculpture depicting a male figure standing in a slightly bent posture, legs spread and arms projected forward. The face features characteristic stylized features with large, deeply incised almond-shaped eyes, an elongated nose and a discreetly marked mouth. The hairstyle is rendered with simple volumes and fine incisions highlighting the hairline. The body is treated in a compact manner, with full volumes and robust limbs, characteristic of certain Holo sculptures. The surface has a medium to dark brown patina due to age and handling.
