Lulua figure - Democratic Republic of the Congo - first half - Lot 25
Lulua figure - Democratic Republic of the Congo - first half 20th century
Small anthropomorphic Lulua sculpture representing a standing female figure with a long ringed neck, typical of the statuary of this Kasai group. The finely sculpted face features almond-shaped eyes and stylized features. The figure holds a small object or container against her torso, while her other arm is folded along her body. The rounded body and elaborate hairstyle bear witness to the classic Lulua style. Patina of use with traces of age. The feet are missing, as the sculpture is now mounted on a presentation pedestal.
Figure height: 16 cm - Weight: 212 g (with base)
