Stylized male head - Dengese, DR Congo, first half 20th century Small bone sculpture representing a male head with an elongated face and stylized features, characterized by almond-shaped eyes, a straight nose and a closed mouth. The geometric hairstyle with central incision is combined with a neck formed of several superimposed rings resting on a cylindrical base. This type of small sculpture is attributed to the Dengese, a group from the Congo Basin region, and could have been used as a handle, a small pestle or a carved personal object.
