Brass candlestick with spike, Flanders, 15th century Cast brass candlestick with turned baluster shaft resting on a circular base pierced with groups of perforations characteristic of Flemish Gothic production, deep wick with high central spike designed to hold a large candle with scalloped edges for wax drainage, model used in ecclesiastical and wealthy domestic contexts at the end of the Middle Ages. Details: Origin Flanders; 15th century; material brass; total height 20 cm (12.5 cm without spike); weight 473 g; condition age-related wear and small losses, surface dents and abrasions, old traces of wax.
